W.J. Watson Public School is pleased to be holding a Heart and Stroke Foundation Jump Rope For Heart event on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 2:00 pm. In case of rain, the event will be held on May 25. All money raised will support the Heart and Stroke Foundation in their mission to promote children’s health and fund vital heart and stroke research.
Jump Rope For Heart encourages kids to get active by skipping rope while they collect pledges for heart disease and stroke research. They also learn the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and giving back to their community.
Participating schools can receive a portion of proceeds back from the Heart and Stroke Foundation to support the purchase of physical education equipment.
We need your help to reach W.J. Watson’s fundraising goal of $5 000.00.
Please help support your child’s fundraising efforts by registering them online at JumpRopeForHeart.ca and sending out donation requests to friends, family and colleagues. Online fundraising is the quickest way to reach all of your contacts and online donors receive an automatic tax receipt. Plus, when students receive their first online donation, they will receive a free skipping rope from the Heart and Stroke Foundation!
If you need assistance, please visit jumpforheart.ca and check out the step by step “how-to” resources.
Each student has already brought home a pledge envelope to collect cash and cheque donations in person. Please ensure that their pledge envelope is returned to school on Tuesday, May 24, 2016.
Thank you in advance for your support,
Mrs. Lewis and Ms. Spear

From March 30th to April 1st, the students in Ms. Gibson’s and Mrs. Spehar’s classes will be making their way to each class before morning recess. to sell Kernels popcorn (dill pickle, white cheddar, salt and vinegar, or butter popcorn) for $2 each. Kernels popcorn follows the Ministry’s health guidelines for sales in our school. All proceeds are going to the Autism Ontario’s Raise the Flag Campaign. The funds raised through Raise the Flag go to supporting children and adults with autism and their families. By pledging to participate in the campaign, our school will receive a flag to display in celebration of World Autism Day which is on April 2nd. Since it falls on a Saturday, our school celebrations will be held on Monday, April 4th. Remember to wear BLUE on Monday!
Our cookie dough and plant fundraiser pick-up has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 29th from 3:30-6 p.m.
Please contact the office with any questions or concerns. Please note that all cookie dough must be picked up on Tuesday as there is no freezer storage available at the school.
School Council Members would like to thank the W.J. Watson School Community for providing feedback on the recent survey about fundraising preferences.
As a result of survey data, we have decided to focus the Spring Fundraiser on cookie dough and plant sales. Families have the option of selling Organic Edibles and/or Tasty Batters Frozen Cookie Dough.
Students in grade 1-7 attended a short assembly yesterday to kick-off our fundraiser with QSP. As well, Information packages are came home yesterday with each student (grade Kindergarten to grade 7). Grade 8 students will receive their packages on Friday, Feb 12, 2016.
This is a two week fundraiser. Families are asked to return all orders on or before February 29th, 2016.
As with all fundraisers, participation is optional. We are, however, grateful for all orders and small orders too – every little bit helps to bring extra learning materials and enhancements to our school environment.
As always, please call the school office with any questions, concerns or feedback.
