EQAO Begins Today

Dear Families,

Between May 25th and June 2nd 2016, our students in grades 3 and 6 will be taking part in the provincial Assessment of Reading, Writing and Mathematics.  This assessment is administered to all Grade 3 and 6 students in Ontario’s publicly funded school system by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO), an independent agency of the Government of Ontario.

Students will begin the assessment each morning promptly at 9:00 a.m.  Students may write until 11:00 a.m.  For classes who continue writing through recess, an alternate activity time outside, weather depending, will be planned.  During EQAO, the morning announcements, including the national anthem, will take place at 11:30 a.m.

In order to ensure that students are able to focus, there will be no interruptions to our grade 3 and 6 classrooms while students are writing.  All messages for grade 3 and 6 staff and students will be shared once EQAO is completed for the day.

Thank you for your support.

Should you have any questions, please contact the office.

Grade 3 Families – Pizza Day Rescheduled

Dear Parents of Grade 3 Students,

The grade 3 students will be absent for pizza day on Thursday, May 19 due to the Georgina Pioneer Village trip.

Students who have paid for their pizza will receive it on Friday, May 20 instead of the originally scheduled date.

Thank you to our Hot Lunch Coordinator, Mrs. Tammy Andrade for taking the time to reorganize the pizza lunch for the grade 3 students.

Grade 3 Teachers

EQAO – May 25th – June 3rd

Each year, students in grades 3 and 6 undergo a set of Ministry of Education assessments in reading, writing and mathematics.  During the months of May and June, students in grade 3 and 6 will participate in province-wide EQAO testing. These assessments provide information for the government, teachers, students and parents on the achievement levels of students in Ontario. They also provide valuable information for improving student learning and can enhance instructional planning.   Parents will receive an individual report of their child’s results in the Fall.

It is very important that all students in these grades are available to write the tests. This year, EQAO testing for both grades 3 and 6 will take place between May 25th and June 3rd.  We ask that you do not schedule appointments for your child during this time so we can minimize disruptions and distractions as well as avoid any makeup session for students.

Thank you in advance for your support. Additional information about the EQAO test is available at

If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please contact the office.
